GAMING WORKERS

Gaming workers provide gaming services within casinos and other gambling establishments. Duties might include: ensuring games operating in the casino pit run smoothly; monitoring cash drops and chip transactions; dealing games in accordance with casino rules, policies and procedures; and ensuring bets are placed within the rules of the game. In the five years to May, employment increased by 50 per cent to 9342 (compared with 10.9 per cent for all occupations). A high proportion of workers (76 per cent) are employed full time. Employment growth in the next five years is expected to grow moderately (1.8 per cent a year). Unemployment is average (about 2.5 per cent) compared with all occupations. Median full-time weekly earnings (before tax) are $839 (compared with $1000 for all jobs).
